Boy Scouting is designed to take place outdoors. It is in the outdoor setting that Scouts share responsibilities and learn to live with one another. It is here that the skills and activities practiced at Troop meetings come alive with purpose. Being close to nature helps Scouts gain an appreciation for God's handiwork and our place in it. The outdoors is the laboratory for Scouts to learn ecology and practice conservation of nature's resources.
ReimbursementBoth Scouts and adults spend money on Troop activities. There are forms and policies to get reimbursed for these expenditures. Lost and FoundWe always seem to end up with extra equipment and clothing. Is it yours?FoodNapoleon Bonaparte is quoted as saying 'An army marches on its stomach'. He was right!
EquipmentThe gear we take with us allows us to survive and thrive in outdoor conditions from difficult to inhospitable. There are good, inexpensive gear options. These all make great birthday and Christmas presents.
To keep from forgetting critical gear, make a packing list. Include items you would pack in every camping situation. Before packing, cross off items you do not need to bring to that specific campout. Try starting with our list and change it to fit your needs. On every campout, bring one garbage bag and enough toilet paper to last you the length of the campout, each packed in its own plastic sandwich zipper bag. Bring it to every campout. |
LocationsWe try to visit a location no more frequently than once every two years.
